My Pole Journey
In my teen years i took part in the required school sports ( not by choice). Since then I’ve toyed with Step my 30’s and Pilates in my 40’s..... but never felt a ‘fit’.
In 2019, after 4 years of serious illnesses, someone suggested I try yoga and I found Zara Redford after numerous strangers recommendations.
And I haven’t looked back. I finally found my first ‘fit’ with any form of exercise and more importantly a teacher who I also fit with.
When Zara announced that she was starting Pole classes in the summer of 2019, I decided that it was time to push myself further. At 57 I didn’t really think I’d last long but I had so much confidence in Zara and her excellent teaching methods, thought I’d give it a whirl ( excuse the pun)
I love it, I can’t actually explain just how much I love pole. Zara has the ability to make you believe in yourself, when all you do is doubt yourself. I’m still there, we have the best time and I’ve made some very dear friends. I hate missing classes, even if I am on holiday. I’m fitter at 57 than I ever have been, I’m more confident generally. I believe I can .... because Zara has taught me to believe in myself.
Everyone needs a Zara in their lives
I started Zara’s Pole classes in the summer. I was looking for a new challenge to add into my fitness routine, and Nevaeh pole really caught my eye.
I have loved learning the different skills, and now have a new found respect of how hard and skilled pole fitness really is.
People often say to me...ooh don’t you feel uncomfortable dancing around a pole...and my response is absolutely not. Pole is an art form and I fully challenge any misperceptions around it. My strength, fitness and body confidence have improved dramatically since attending Zara’s classes. I have loved meeting a group of new friends. We laugh, support and champion one another, and best of all I never feel judged. I love that we are all different ages, shapes and sizes. There is lots of diversity in the room. There really is so much girl power in and I have found it incredibly empowering. Zara is a fantastic teacher and always makes sure we learn something new and have fun along the way.
If you are looking to try something new, don’t hesitate to give it a go!
I regularly go to Zara’s yoga classes which I can’t recommend highly enough! 🧘🏻❤️
Zara is a fantastic teacher who guides you through each stage whatever your ability, in what’s always a friendly & relaxed atmosphere, progressing at your own pace.
I decided to attend a handstand workshop Zara was running which I would definitely recommend - very informative, going through both the technique step-by-step & strengthening exercises... who knew there was so much involved in doing a handstand correctly, that & it was fun! 🤸🏻♂️
Thanks as always Zara 😘
